The exhibition by Nikos Iavazzo and Andreas Kalli lies in the dynamics of the desire to create a pace of co-expression, enhancing the effort to co-exist and shape a spiritual, aesthetic and visual dialogue. The gallery space becomes the natural meeting place, for the exchange and development of this idiosyncratic dialogue. The composition of
the works, the one next to the other, constitutes a paradoxical narrative with light as the main protagonist (light within colors or in absolute black) or even non-light, its importance and its beauty. Nikos Iavazzo presents a series of paintings focusing on “little stars” and a series of photographs. In parallel, Andreas Kalli presents a series of
wall-mounted sculptural constructions and a series of abstract paintings. His wall pieces are made of fabric and burlap with integrated colored strips of fiberglass and metal elements. The pursuit for light, for the two visual artists, embodies the concepts of
liberation and hope. The two artists through their creativity try to respond to the anguish of existence, to the problems and difficulties that arise and to find a way through the beauty they invent, to ease the pain. Their works are their own attempt to fight the pessimism of our time, but especially to revive hope, personally and collectively.

Nikos Iavazzo:
Born in 1976 (Naples). He graduated from ASFA (E Laboratory, 2011). In his works, with a critical attitude he undermines conventional ways of perception and reinterprets reality. He handles different media in different ways – drawing, photography, video, sculpture, painting,
installations – and combines them in a playful mood. Since 2009 he has been presenting his work in group exhibitions.

Andreas Kalli:

Andreas Kalli was born in Cyprus in 1987. He graduated from Athens School of Fine Arts at 2012(BA,MA). Between his studies he attended the ERASMUS program at Central Saint Martin school of art and design in London. 2014 was his first solo exhibition at Fytorio , Nicosia Municipal Garden, Cyprus. March 2015 is the first artist who opens the exhibition series ‘Young Cypriot Artists at the A. G. Leventis Gallery’ in Cyprus, also 2015 participated in the Biennale of Young Artists in Milan. In 2016 he participated with his work in the group exhibition ‘So Close Yet So Far Away’ at the Petach Tikva Museum in Israel. His work has been presented in Greece and abroad. He lives and works in Cyprus.

Η έκθεση των Νίκου Iavazzo και Ανδρέα Καλλή έγκειται στην δυναμική της επιθυμίας για τη δημιουργία ενός βήματος συν-έκφρασης, στο πνεύμα προσπάθειας συνύπαρξης και διαμόρφωσης ενός πνευματικού, αισθητικού και εικαστικού διαλόγου. Ο χώρος της γκαλερί γίνεται ο φυσικός χώρος συνάντησης, συν-διαλλαγής και ανάπτυξης αυτού του ιδιότυπου διαλόγου. Η σύνθεση των έργων, το ένα δίπλα
στο άλλο, συνιστά μια παράδοξη αφήγηση με κύριο πρωταγωνιστή το φως (μέσα στα χρώματα ή στο απόλυτο μαύρο) ή το μη φως, τη σημασία του και την ομορφιά του.

Ο Νίκος Iavazzo παρουσιάζει μια ζωγραφική σειρά έργων με επίκεντρο «τα αστεράκια» και μια σειρά από φωτογραφίες. Ταυτόχρονα, ο Ανδρέας Καλλή παρουσιάζει μια σειρά με επιτοίχιες γλυπτικές κατασκευές, από ύφασμα και λινάτσα με ενσωματωμένες χρωματιστές λωρίδες fiberglass και μεταλλικά στοιχεία και μια σειρά αφηρημένων ζωγραφικών έργων. Η αναζήτηση του φωτός, για τους δυο εικαστικούς
ενσωματώνει τις έννοιες της απελευθέρωσης και της ελπίδας. Ο στοχασμός των δυο καλλιτεχνών έγκειται στο γεγονός ότι μέσα από τη δημιουργικότητα προσπαθούν να απαντήσουν στην αγωνία της ύπαρξης, στα προβλήματα και στις δυσκολίες που προκύπτουν και να βρουν τρόπο η ομορφιά που επινοούν να απαλύνει τον πόνο. Τα έργα τους είναι η δική τους προσπάθεια να αντιπαλέψουν την απαισιοδοξία της εποχής, μα ειδικά να αναζωογονήσουν την ελπίδα, την προσωπική και τη συλλογική.

Νίκος Iavazzo:

Γεννήθηκε το 1976 (Νάπολη). Αποφοίτησε από την ΑΣΚΤ (Έ Εργαστήριο, 2011). Στα έργα του, με κριτική διάθεση υπονομεύει τους συμβατικούς τρόπους αντίληψης και επανερμηνεύει την πραγματικότητα. Χειρίζεται ποικιλοτρόπως τα διάφορα μέσα -σχέδιο, φωτογραφία, video, γλυπτική, ζωγραφική, εγκαταστάσεις- και τα συνδυάζει με παιγνιώδη διάθεση. Από το 2009 παρουσιάζει τη δουλειά του σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις.

Ανδρέας Καλλή:

Ο Ανδρέας Καλλή γεννήθηκε στην Λάρνακα της Κύπρου το 1987. Σπούδασε στη Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών Αθηνών (2007-2012), στο ενδιάμεσο φοίτησε στο κολλέγιο Central Saint Martin School of art and design (2010-2011).

Άνοιξε πρώτος σειρά εκθέσεων στη Λεβέντειο Πινακοθήκη με τίτλο Νέοι Κύπριοι Καλλιτέχνες το 2015. Εκπροσώπησε την Κύπρο στην Μπιενάλε Νέων Καλλιτεχνών στο Μιλάνο το 2015 με τίτλο No Food’ s Land. Συμμετείχε, μεταξύ άλλων, στην ομαδική έκθεση So Close Yet So Far Away, Μουσείο Μοντέρνας και Σύγχρονης Τέχνης Petach Tikva στο Ισραήλ και στην γκαλερί Cartabianca, Αρλ, Γαλλία με τίτλο Το Μάτι & Το Δάκτυλο. Το έργο του έχει παρουσιαστεί σε εκθέσεις στην Ελλάδα, Γαλλία, Ιταλία, Αγγλία και αλλού στο εξωτερικό. Ζει και εργάζεται στην Κύπρο
