For me, art has always revolved around the notions of unity and acceptance as I seek to understand myself and the part I play in society. Prior to my Art degree, I studied Psychology and although not conventionally considered an artistic qualification, it has informed and enhanced my art practice greatly in exploring the “Why’s” behind my own choices and of those around me.
Currently my practice is focused mainly on self-portraits, which I have delved into for the past 2 years, while setting strict boundaries for mediums. This has aided in pushing the limits of my process both in the final physical manifestation of the work and in my own mind as I have only allowed myself a small mark-making tool which significantly slows the process of creating, allowing me to meditate as I draw.
